Case Studies
London Road Project
The Results
This project highlights CLC’s ability to deliver high-risk, high-complexity infrastructure works while maintaining supply continuity on major water assets. Through strong planning, innovative engineering, and collaborative delivery, CLC ensured customer protection, operational continuity, and a safe, high-quality outcome.
The Challenge

Affinity Water identified a failed valve on a strategic 800mm trunk main supplying a large section of their network.
Failure to address the issue quickly risked severe service disruption, potentially affecting tens of thousands of properties.
CLC was engaged to:
-
Assess the condition of the asset
-
Work collaboratively with Affinity Water to design a solution
-
Enable repairs without shutting down the main, ensuring continuous supply
-
Overcome significant site access and operational constraints in a rural environment
The Solution
Installation of 450mm bypass system spanning over 200 metres.

Installed 1km of 900mm large diameter rising sewage mains.

Excavation work completed at a depth of 6.5m up to 2.5m.

Installed 200m of 450mm

Water management aligned to EA requirements, despite overflowing watercourse adjacent to the works.
The Results
The project reached completion on the section of works in a safe and timely manner.
-
Zero impact to customers — the network remained live and pressurised for the entire duration
-
The faulty 800mm valve was successfully replaced, restoring full operational control of this strategic asset
-
Delivered injury-free and incident-free, supported by robust process controls and modern risk-management technology
-
All reinstatement completed to a high standard, receiving successful acceptance from the landowner
-
Demonstrated strong collaboration between CLC, Affinity Water, and key supply chain partners
